New developments in European pv industry in 2022

To address Europe’s current energy security and price challenges, the European Commission has unveiled its much-anticipated RePowerEU plan, which aims to accelerate the development of 1,000GW of solar installations by 2030, with an annual average of 92.8GW of new installations.Photovoltaic systems are constantly being developed and updated. Cheaper, more stable, and more efficient solar panel racks ground systems will enable Europe to achieve the goal of energy economy faster.Let’s take a look at the progress of pv projects in some European countries in 2022.

According to a survey report released by the Polish Institute of Renewable Energy (IEO), the cumulative installed pv system capacity in Poland has exceeded 10GW by May     2022 and is expected to reach 12GW by the end of this year.Poland said: “The development in 2021 is the result of years of hard work by the pv industry, particularly the boom in pv development in the last four years, when pv systems became a hot investment spot and economic tool on a European scale. In terms of new PV capacity added in 2018, Poland ranks eighth among the 27 EU countries, fifth in 2019, fourth in 2020 and second in 2021. Last year, 3.7GW of pv systems were installed, so the growth is impressive.”

Europe’s largest floating solar park is set to open in July 2022 at Portugal’s Alceva Reservoir. The alkwa reservoir is used to generate electricity, and its panels will produce 75 gigawatts per hour (GWh) of electricity per year, and will supplement storage with lithium batteries to store 2GWh of electricity.Solar panels will power 1,500 homes, floating solar won’t need to be supported by buildings, and stations on reservoirs used for hydroelectric power are particularly cost-effective because they can be connected to the existing grid.

March 23, 2022 — Game Change Solar today announced the completion of two projects in Spain using Genuis Tracker™ Solar trackers with a total installed capacity of 70 MEGA watts. These projects use high-performance solar module son the Genius Tracker™single-axis tracking system, which is proven and efficiently designed, in a longitudinal deployment mode.Genius Tracker™ has a proven track record of increasing production and profitability due to its optimized design and near-zero maintenance.
